There is no denying that technology is becoming increasingly integrated into our everyday lives. As with most advancements, however, the use of technology doesn’t come without its drawbacks. One of the more notable ones is the use of digital devices. In today’s fast-paced world, many people are addicted to their devices, be it smartphones, tablets, or anything else. As a result, productivity across the board has decreased. Furthermore, constantly looking at screens means that social media platforms are being consumed on a regular basis, something that has the potential to aggravate pre-existing mental health disorders, especially within the younger generation.
This problem can be illustrated with a phone icon representing the slide of attention away from real-life contexts and into mobile devices. Alternative symbols like hourglasses or alarms can signify din, perpetual wake-up notices, and time wastage.
A robot icon can depict the automation of various functions as a contributor to job displacement. Alternatively, a person being removed or a group of people can depict the diminishing numbers of employees.
A shield with exclamation mark denotes privacy threats as well as vulnerability of data. Other suitable icons would be a shield with a lock, or an eye with a slash to demonstrate hidden surveillance and lack of privacy.
Malware or hacking risks can be illustrated with a bug icon. Other alternatives like a lock, or a shield with a lock emphasize the need of having security or the risks of breaches.
Sadness or emotional stress can be illustrated with a frowning emoji. Other such emojis are dizzy, or angry faces showing burnout, anxiety, and irritation.
While often overlooked, technology also harms the environment. Icons like a warning triangle, trash bin, or globe can represent pollution, e-waste, and global environmental concerns.
